Orillia OPP have arrested and charged two people with impaired related charges in unrelated incidents on Saturday.

On Dec. 30 at about 5:15 p.m., officers from Orillia OPP and Simcoe County Paramedics responded to reports of an unconscious person in the driver's seat of a vehicle parked in the area of Monarch Drive in Orillia.

Upon arrival the investigating officer found the person to be impaired by drugs, police said in a news release.

The person was arrested by the officer and attended to by paramedics, police said.

Adam Norwood, 36, of Oro-Medonte has been charged with operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs.

Also on Dec. 30, at about 11:05 p.m., Orillia OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 12 in Ramara Township in response to a report of a vehicle seen swerving and travelling at a high rate of speed, police said in a news release.

Police were able to locate the vehicle and conduct a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the driver, officers suspected he had consumed alcohol, police said.

Keith Mingo, 27, of Severn was charged with operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia in January.

Each driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicles impounded for seven days, police said.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
