A traffic stop Thursday in Wasaga Beach led to what police say is the “largest seizure of fentanyl in Simcoe County.”
In October, Orillia OPP began investigating two people who were allegedly trafficking drugs in the county. On Thursday, police conducted a traffic stop on Mosley Street and arrested the two suspects.
Police seized the following:
- 1,039 grams of fentanyl
- 1,971.3 grams of cocaine
- 998.5 grams of methamphetamine
- 18 grams of shatter
- $4,239 in Canadian currency
- 178 cartons of contraband cigarettes
- two digital scales
- one cellphone
- two Percocet tablets
- packaging materials
Damien Morris, 38, and Kristen North, 40, both of Wasaga Beach, have been charged with the following:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine)
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance (opioid)
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Trafficking in contraband tobacco
- Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling
- Tobacco Tax Act charges pending
Morris was held in custody pending a bail hearing, while North was released with a future court date.
