Person charged with stunt driving after going 180 on Hwy. 11

A concerned motorist's tip helped Almaguin Highlands OPP catch a North Bay driver racing down Highway 11 in Strong Twp. near Sundridge at an "alarming" 180 km/h say police.

Yesterday at 1 p.m., officers responded to a complaint from a concerned motorist about a vehicle speeding northbound. They responded and stopped the vehicle after confirming it was travelling at 180 km/h.

A 30-year-old person from North Bay was charged with "Drive motor vehicle -perform stunt- excessive speed." The driver's name and gender were not released.

The driver's vehicle was impounded for 14 days, and their license was suspended for 30 days. The accused is to appear before the Provincial Offences Court in Sundridge at a later date.
