Police arrest man at Barrie home after gun call on Sunday

A police tactical unit conducted a raid on a home on Tunbridge Road near near Johnson Street in Barrie's north-end on Sunday morning. A man was was arrested after reports he had a firearm.

Barrie police are investigating after they received a call on Sunday morning about a man with a gun.

Police visited a residence on Tunbridge Road in the city’s north-end shortly before 7 a.m. on March 23.

“Just before 11 a.m. the male was arrested without incident, and the investigation remains ongoing,” police communications coordinator Jennett Mays said.

No other information was released.

A nearby resident, Adam Robertson, said the police were "all around the area waiting since about 7:30 a.m., telling us to stay in the house and off the streets."

He said it was around 10:30 a.m. when police made their move on the house they were watching.

“They smashed the front door down and the garage door, (and) threw a flash bang in. Then all these other police came across our front doors with dogs and guns and telling us to get inside,” Robertson added.

Police said they cleared the scene at approximately 1 p.m.
