South Simcoe police are appealing to the public for information five days after a shooting in Bradford West Gwillimbury.
On Jan. 1 at about 10 a.m., officers received a call for service in the area of Imperial Crescent, located in the southeast area of town. The initial call concerned a damaged vehicle.
However, further investigation showed two vehicles were hit by a single gunshot.
Police believe the discharge of a firearm occurred earlier that morning, at about 1:30 a.m.
“At this time, the incident is believed to be isolated and targeted at a specific vehicle,” the department said in a media release issued Jan. 6. “There were no injuries reported, however there is always a concern when any firearm is openly fired in a public space. As such, South Simcoe Police are actively investigating this incident and seeking more information.”
This case is not connected in any way to another Jan. 1 incident involving a firearm, which occurred a few kilometres away at a motel just outside of town.
Anyone with information related to this investigation, or security camera footage from the area of Imperial and Melbourne Drive on New Year’s Day, between the hours of midnight and 4 a.m., is asked to contact Detective Constable Dan Raymond at [email protected].
