UPDATE: Armed robbery suspect identified

A 33-year-old from Midland is facing weapons and robbery charges after 'gun-point arrest' at Highway 12 retail store parking lot

Update (4:45 p.m.)

Police have identified the accused as Ryan Little, 33, of Midland. He has been charged with the following:

  • Robbery using a firearm (restricted or prohibited)
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order (two counts)
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Failure to comply with a probation order (two counts)

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police seized the weapon involved in the incident, and they said the investigation is continuing.

A 911 call to the OPP Communications Centre at approximately 7:21 p.m. November 11, 2022 by a King Street, Midland store clerk reporting a robbery with an alleged firearm resulted in a rapid response by officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment.

Uniform officers located a lone suspect through investigation and made a gun point arrest in a nearby Highway 12 retail store parking lot at approximately 7:29 p.m. November 11, 2022. The area of the robbery and arrest was subject to a large police presence as investigators were assisted by members of the OPP Central Region Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team members during and following the incident.

A 33-year-old Midland male is currently in police custody awaiting a bail hearing on numerous firearms and robbery charges.

Investigators advise that there is no threat to public safety and incident is still under investigation with further information to be provided when it becomes available.
