Orillia man charged after theft from Midland Canadian Tire

Ontario Provincial Police have arrested two suspects following an investigation into the theft of tools from the Midland Canadian Tire.

Barry Philip Assance, 40, of Orillia was charged with theft under $5,000 - shoplifting.

Dillon William Roper, 32, of Midland was charged with theft under $5000- shoplifting, along with failing to comply with a probation order.

Both are scheduled to appear in court on April 4.

According to a media release, police were called to the store at around 2:16 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9.

Store security said two men walked out of the store with tools they didn’t pay for. 

The Orillia man was also charged with the theft of a power tool from the Midland Home Depot; that incident occurred Feb. 13, say police.
