Three people have been charged with assault, forcible confinement and numerous other offences following an incident Thursday in Gravenhurst.
At 6:30 p.m., police and paramedics responded to a call from a resident on Southwood Road after a man showed up at his door asking for help. The man said he had been at a nearby home and “suffered harm,” but he was able to flee to find help, Bracebridge OPP said in a news release.
A search warrant was executed at the home where the alleged incident took place, and three people were arrested.
Ashton Carnegie, 26, of Bracebridge, Brandon Reed, 33, of Gravenhurst, and Jody Spears, 52, of Gravenhurst, have been charged with the following:
- Forcible confinement
- Robbery using a firearm
- Assault with a weapon
- Assault
- Pointing a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Theft over $5,000 of a motor vehicle
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon
- Using a firearm while committing an offence
Carnegie and Reed were further charged with possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order and failure to comply with a probation order.
All three were held in custody and were to appear Saturday in Bracebridge court.
