For nearly six decades Orillia’s Sunshine Superwash has been providing customers with exceptional service from its iconic location on Front Street South. Now, this family-owned and operated business is happy to announce plans that will ensure the Sunshine Superwash is here to serve its next generation of customers.

Beginning in August, the Sunshine Superwash will be eliminating the fuel-pump portion of its business and undergoing a complete renovation of its location and its car wash. The goal is to remain hyper-focused on what the company does best – assisting its customers in keeping their vehicles looking like new inside and out.

“My family been serving gas for 58 years, 54 of those on the current site,” said Scott Hewett, whose grandparents Geoff and Kathy Hewett first opened what was the Orillia Imperial Wash in 1970. “We’re officially getting out of the fuel business, and we’re changing direction, focusing on bringing customers the best carwash available.”

First step of the complete renovation will involve removing the gas pump bays and inground fuel tanks. That will be followed with a conversion of the outdoor area to bring in 11 new vacuum systems along with a gated pay station prior to entering the wash. The additions are designed to process people faster and to provide even better services to customers looking to have their vehicles cleaned.

As part of the renovation, Sunshine Superwash will also be reconfiguring the entire carwash equipment layout. The Hewett Family is bringing in new equipment and partnering with a new chemical company, Synergy Solutions, to offer new and improved presoaks, drying agents and protectants, wheel and tire cleaners, and more.

“We’ll also be adding in a bonus with any of our three current wash packages, basic, deluxe and super,” said Hewett.  “With each package customers will receive a treatment of Graphene products, which will be integrated into ceramic formulas to create a more durable layer of protection for your vehicle. It’s supposed to pop the shine and is ideal as a surface hardener and protectant in car washing.”

Right now Sunshine Superwash is in the early stages of the renovation, with bays number one through four currently shut down. New paint, new holsters for the washing guns, new lighting, new brushes and new tri-foam polish will all be part of the manual bays upon completion. Bays five through eight will then be closed to undergo the same upgrades. Hewett said the plans are to have all the renovations completed by the second last week in September.

“It’s really going to give us the opportunity to provide better service,” he said. “And with all the new vacuum bays, we’ll be offering clients who buy our monthly carwash membership package free unlimited use of the vacuums. It’s just an added bonus for your membership.”
