Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions (SMFC) is an essential organization serving children, youth, and families across the Simcoe and Muskoka regions. As one of two organizations legally mandated to protect children and youth from abuse and neglect, its mission extends far beyond immediate safety. SMFC also offers comprehensive mental health services (in Muskoka only) and support programs aimed at providing families with much-needed assistance in times of crisis.
Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, SMFC ensures that the programs and services offered are directly tailored to the needs of the community. Its commitment is reflected in a wide array of initiatives designed to fill crucial gaps not covered by government funding.
Programs to Fill the Gaps
Among various services, SMFC runs several community programs that provide essential items for the families they serve. The Basic Needs program, for instance, has seen growing demand year over year as families struggle to meet the necessities of daily life. The program helps supply everything from beds to toiletries, toys, technology, and, most urgently, grocery and gas gift cards.
The organization also runs programs for holiday support, back-to-school supplies, bursaries, and even camp opportunities for children. These initiatives are all designed to lift some of the burdens on families facing tough circumstances.

Financial contributions can be made online, or physical and digital gift cards can be purchased for donation. Those interested in making in-person contributions can drop off gift cards at one of the organization’s branches. Financial donors will receive automatic tax receipts, and those donating physical gift cards can request a receipt upon submission.
