The Big Event has a big event planned for you and all your besties: The First Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Dance Party.

The Big Event is well-known in the area for hosting fun-filled activities which also raise money for charity. Trunk or Treat, 90’s Dances and other themed dances are always well attended and raise copious amounts for the designated charity.

The Big Event’s Ugly Sweater Bowling Party has been running for ten years and sold out in less than five minutes this year. It has raised over $30,000 for The Sharing Place Food Centre since its inception.

Derick Lehmann, creative mind behind The Big Event, shared, “I thought, well everyone likes ugly Christmas sweaters so much, and seem to love themed dances, so why not do an ugly Christmas sweater themed dance?”

“This one will raise money for local toy drives, which I am really excited about,” he added.

The First Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Dance Party is happening on Saturday December 7 from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at ODAS Park. It is a 19+ event.

“This will be a real celebration of all things tacky and festive,” said Lehmann. “There will be a live DJ, cash bars, and special appearances by Santa himself, plus lots of other surprises. Of course, we will have prizes for the best (worst) sweater! The night will be a chance to get your groove on, wear your tackiest sweater, and have Christmas fun with all your friends, while raising money to make local kids’ holidays brighter.”

Tickets for the evening are $20 in advance here or $25 at the door. Tickets are also available at Alleycats Music and Art in downtown Orillia (cash only).

Groups of ten or more (think staff holiday party) are eligible for discounted ticket prices. Reach out to The Big Event here to obtain your discount.

Lehmann said enthusiastically, “Last year we donated more than $14,000 to local toy drives through our events, and we'd love to do it again this year!”

Grab that ugly Christmas sweater and get your ticket today. It’s going to be a fabulously tacky holiday event.
