Clients receive a share of the surplus
HMA The BENEFITS People is a nationally recognized brokerage with their own proprietary benefits program known as 3G. It’s a group benefits model that combines the safety of a fully insured plan with profit-sharing and loyalty dividends.
John Atkinson said, “Benefit pricing is based on what the insuring company anticipates you will claim in the coming year. If you claim less than anticipated, meaning you were profitable to the insuring company, the insurance company is entitled to keep the profit. But with 3G Benefits, we will give up to 50% of that profit back to the client.”
With car and home insurance, you hope that you don’t have a claim through the year. But with group health and dental benefits, when you pay a premium, it’s assumed that a share of those premiums will be used to cover drug, medical, and dental claims.
Here’s how HMA’s profit sharing works
Let’s say a company spent $100,000 on their group benefits each year. It’s anticipated that about 80% or $80,000 would be used to pay claims. However, the company only had $60,000 in claims. So now, there is a $20,000 difference. Atkinson said, “HMA’s 3G program will share a portion of that $20,000 back with the client. Typically, that’s something an insurance company would not do.”
Typically, an insurance company would say they did their math and thought you were going to spend this much, so they’ll keep the difference.
Atkinson said, “We’re very proud of the profit-sharing program. We’re very proud of the fact that we put dollars back into the hands of clients as frequently as possible. Very rarely do you find insurance companies putting money back into people’s pockets.”
HMA has a first-rate client care record
HMA is an insurance brokerage with a high client retention rate. On a historical basis, it’s a retention rate of 95 to 98 percent. In fact, HMA The BENEFITS People is recognized both provincially and nationally by the insurance industry each year for its growth and client retention record.
Benefits as an incentive to attract and retain employees
With the labour shortage we’re facing, many employers are finding it extremely difficult to hire employees. Boosting hourly wages isn’t the only incentive companies are offering.
Atkinson said, “Companies are also offering benefits and company sponsored RRSPs, which we also provide. Those incentives are helping employees decide which jobs to accept.” HMA also sells life insurance, disability, and critical illness insurance.
