The following letter is in response to our letter, titled 'On-ramp issue shows gov't doesn't 'like people pointing out problems,' published Feb. 16.
Highway 11 is two-laned going north and south as far as Barrie and as far as North Bay. You are so very fortunate to have these roads like this.
Our government is more concerned about a tunnel under highway 401 to spread across the GTA, then it is concerned about foiur-laning the highways from Sudbury to the Manitoba border where there have been many accidents involving vehicles and big trucks going to the west or coming back east.
Also, look at an area like Lake Tamagami, another area which is not four-laned with heavy transport truck traffic.
Both of the above two mentioned areas that I am speaking about have lots of deaths and crashes. There is more to Ontario than just the GTA.
All the provincial government wants to do with the north is take the minerals out of the ground, trees out of the bush ... and use it as a playland.
It's about time that the north gets what they deserve: fully four-laned highways, so the carnage can stop.
