The Rotary Club of Orillia is excited to announce the 24th annual Rotary Downtown Classic & Custom Car Show will be happening on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Orillia.

Formerly organized by the Downtown Orillia BIA, this year’s car show sees the Rotary Club of Orillia taking over as lead organizer and the BIA as an event partner.

Interested car owners can register on the morning of the event starting at 8 a.m. (tentative). Registration for the show will be done on a first-come, first-served basis with no pre-registration or reserved spots this year. There will be registration tables at each end of Mississaga Street with one of the tables near the corner of Mississaga Street East and Matchedash Street. The second will be near the corner of Mississaga Street West and Albert Street. This year’s registration fee is $20; cash preferred.

As in previous years, there will be lots of entertainment including live music with the Ben Benson Rewind kicking things off from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the Ronnie Douglas Band will hit the stage from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. There will also be the usual contests for ‘best car’ and other draws and prizes for both cars and visitors.

“When the opportunity came along to become the official organizer of the Downtown Classic & Custom Car Show, we jumped at the chance. We’re very fortunate to be working with the Downtown Orillia BIA, who were the previous organizers and have been fantastic partners for this event. With their support and the strength of our volunteers, we’re confident that we can put on one of the best car shows ever.” — Sarah-Jane VandenBerg, Rotary Club of Orillia president

“We love hosting the car show in downtown Orillia. It’s an ideal way to showcase our impressive downtown business community. We have some of the best shopping and most popular restaurants and cafés in the region. We can’t wait to have people experience everything that downtown Orillia has to offer.” — Michael Fredson, Downtown Orillia BIA board chair

The Rotary Downtown Classic & Custom Car Show is now entering its 24th year with up to 400 classic cars to be displayed primarily along six full blocks of Mississaga Street from Front Street to Albert Street and also along Peter Street South. This rain-or-shine event attracts classic cars and car enthusiasts from across southern Ontario. Simply known locally as the car show, the event draws as many as 25,000 people to downtown Orillia. The event will be rain or shine. Some conditions and details may be subject to change.

The organizing committee would like to thank all of our contributing sponsors including Bumper to Bumper and Parry Automotive. The committee would also like to thank the participating car owners, our hard-working volunteers and anyone else who made this special event possible.
