On Saturday, Oct. 5, Kubota Materials Canada Corp. hosted its first Family Fun Day at the Orillia plant, providing a day of excitement and entertainment for Kubota employees and their families. The event featured a mix of activities for all ages, aimed at bringing the Kubota community closer together while offering a behind-the-scenes look at the company’s operations.

One of the highlights was a guided tour of the foundry, where visitors had the unique opportunity to observe the industrial processes that power Kubota’s production, from molten metal pouring to the precision work of creating high-quality components. This rare glimpse into the foundry was a favourite among attendees, showcasing Kubota’s cutting-edge technology and expertise.

For younger visitors, there were plenty of fun activities, including face painting, bouncy castles, and a photo booth. The festive atmosphere was further enhanced by music and food options, creating a lively and family-friendly environment throughout the day.

A standout feature of the day was the involvement of several community organizations that Kubota invited to participate. The Sharing Place Food Centre, based in Orillia, was on hand to accept food and monetary donations, and to share information on their services. The Girl Guides of Orillia were onsite with a collection of their classic chocolate, vanilla and mint cookies for sale…selling out! As well, the Sea Cadets hosted an information booth where children and families could learn more about their youth programs.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Orillia Fire Department allowed families to sit in and explore their emergency vehicles, with an up-close look at some equipment, while answering any safety related concerns families may had! Georgian College offered virtual welding devices, which provided an insight on some educational programs and career development opportunities.

The event was a resounding success, reflecting Kubota’s commitment to fostering a sense of community within the company while supporting its connections to the broader Orillia area. Family Fun Day was an event that celebrated the hard work of Kubota’s employees and their families.
