Get ready for summer at Water Smart Day and Camp Open House on Saturday, June 23 from 12 to 4 p.m. at Couchiching Beach Park in Orillia.

Water Smart Day and Camp Open House is a free public event that will educate the community about drowning prevention and strategies, while also giving families the opportunity to meet City of Orillia day camp staff and participate in exciting camp activities.

“Our goal is to educate the public about water safety and drowning prevention in a fun and engaging way in order to keep your family safe around the water,” said Sydney Whyte, Waterfront Director for the City of Orillia. “The day will feature water smart activities, water balloon challenges, lifeguard demonstrations and a free swim to survive lesson from 2 to 4 p.m.”

As part of the Camp Open House, there will be various stations with camp activities such as crafts, games, parachute games, and face painting.

“The Camp Open House will give your child a taste of what it is like to attend a City of Orillia summer camp and its associated activities. This is also a great opportunity for parents and children to meet day camp staff,” said Jessie Baker, Summer Program Coordinator for the City of Orillia.
