Graduating? Can't afford a dress? Prom Glitz is for you

A variety of beautiful new and gently used gowns for all shapes and sizes are available for free for Grade 12 prom goers and Grade 8 graduates

After two long years, the Prom Glitz rolling racks will once again be filled with a variety of beautiful new and gently used gowns for all shapes and sizes for Grade 12 prom goers and Grade 8 graduates.

Scheduled to run the next two weekends at the Kozlov Shopping Centre in north-end Barrie, the Prom Glitz project was created to help girls attend their prom  or graduation — who would not be able to otherwise afford it by providing them with gowns free of charge.

Dresses are distributed each spring during the 'Dress Give Away,' where each girl receives individual assistance from a "personal shopper" as she selects the dress of her dreams.

All dresses are free, but cash donations are always accepted and go a long way to help keep the program up and running.

No appointments are necessary, and each student is able to bring one guest to help them choose just the right dress.

Anyone needing a dress is invited to come to the event during any of the times listed below:

  • Friday, April 1 from 3-6 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, April 7 from 3-6 p.m.
  • Friday,  April 8 from 3-6 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
