Today, Harriett Todd Public School will celebrate the International Day of Pink early, ahead of the official day of Wednesday April 14, which now falls on the new spring break for local schools.

The school had 420 students take part in an extensive anti-bullying awareness program which extended over a four-week period. This program has been very rewarding for the Harriett Todd community.

Through the education process, our students became aware of the different forms of bullying and what they should do in these types of situations if they were happening to them or are witnessing bullying happening to someone else.

We had many beautifully designed 'Stand Up to Bullying' running shoes artistically created during the instruction. These 300 designed running shoes were so well done that we had to turn them into a custom-made Anti-Bullying T-Shirt.

Through a student voice selection process, 125 shoes were selected for the T-shirt. With the support of the Simcoe County District School Board, the Harriett Todd School Council, Roy Micks, Ken Micks and Gerry Smith, these T-Shirts came to life.

Our students are now very aware that “all it takes is one voice to stand up against bullying.

When you see our students and staff on the streets of Orillia, please feel free to ask them what the shirts represent, and they will be happy to explain!
