The Ramara Township Public Library board is pleased to announce the hiring of Elise Schofield as the library’s new chief executive officer.

“Ms. Schofield comes to us with a wealth of experience, having worked in public library systems for over a decade,” states board chairperson Jane Ste. Marie.

“She started her career as a library page, progressed to an information reference librarian, and has held various managerial positions. In her current community of Sault Ste. Marie, she has been recognized as a community leader, and I am confident that she will bring that same enthusiasm and expertise to Ramara.”

Ms. Schofield is enthusiastic about her move to Ramara Township. She stated, “Having spent much of my career in larger urban areas, it is particularly fulfilling for me to return to my rural roots. Rural communities hold a special place in my heart, and I’m excited to contribute to a place where I can make a meaningful, positive impact. I am truly excited and honoured to join the team and look forward to working closely with the library’s talented staff and vibrant community.”

Ms. Schofield will start her new position on Feb. 3, 2025.
