NEWS RELEASE
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD (ORILLIA)
********************
This year may be the most important year ever to pack a shoebox and share hope with a child struggling to understand life during COVID, natural disasters, living in war-ravaged countries and through poverty.

There is still time to share joy, so children feel remembered and loved.

Join thousands of volunteers around the world who are packing and sending simple shoeboxes filled with school supplies, hygiene items and small gifts such as skipping ropes, little cars, balls, sunglasses, tee shirts and ball caps. These are gifts any child will love, and smile to receive!

It’s also a great opportunity to teach our own children the importance of giving.

Shoeboxes can be picked up in Orillia at Calvary Pentecostal Church at 375 Westmount Dr. N., at any of Orillia's three Dollar Tree Stores, Zehrs, Mariposa Market, Tiffins Creative Center, and Barnfield Point Recreation Centre.

Each box has a brochure and suggested packing list tucked inside it!

Shoeboxes are to be returned Nov. 16-20 at Calvary Pentecostal Church (375 Westmount Dr. N.) from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. or  4-7 p.m. each day and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Last year 10,569,405 shoeboxes were packed and sent travelling to the ends of the earth! They went to 118 countries, many to unreached people groups and hard-to-access countries, opening the door for Samaritan Purses disaster relief teams, and the Greatest Journey classes!

This year children in El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, Sierra Leon and Guinea Bissau will receive shoeboxes packed in Canada.

Orillia's Rob and Carolyn Jones travelled to El Salvador to distribute Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes as well as build water purification units with families two years ago, and the Van Schepen family had a meaningful and memorable OCC trip in Senegal last year.

We hope you will join us this year packing a shoebox, or many of them! Share hope and joy, and experience it yourself this year!
