NEWS RELEASE

On your mark, get set, go...to the library? That’s right! The Orillia Public Library is thrilled to announce the inaugural OPL Summer Games, an after-hours event of truly Olympian proportions for adults ages 18 and over. Gather your podium-worthy pals, register for Friday, Aug. 9, and let the games begin!

Test your skills in a variety of offbeat "sporting" events, as you Putt-Putt in the Paperbacks, try to foil your foes while Fencing in Fiction, whirl your way to victory with Hula-Hooping in the Hallway, and go for the gold in the Dewey Dash!

Team uniforms are highly encouraged — think less “business casual” and more “athletic avant-garde.”  And don’t worry, we’ve got prizes for both the first-place finishers and the delightfully disastrous last-place competitors, because everyone’s a winner in our book.

The West Street doors will open at 7 p.m., with the games starting promptly at 7:15 p.m. Spaces are limited, so don’t hesitate, register your team of two to four people now! Visit the Orillia Public Library website to secure your spot in this epic adventure.

For more information about the OPL Summer Games, please send an email or call the library at 705-325-2556.
