NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF ORILLIA
*************************
Reminder: For those who missed the Public Information Centre (PIC) No. 2 regarding the Front Street/Neywash Street corridor reconstruction project at the end of March, there is still time to view the presentation materials and provide comments.
Presentation materials from PIC No. 2 are available at the City’s website and at the Orillia City Centre. The deadline to submit comments is April 27, 2018. Comment sheets are available online or at the Orillia City Centre, or comments can be submitted via email to [email protected].
The project will address the deteriorated condition of the roadway and provide improvements to existing servicing infrastructure.
The project will also provide an opportunity to relocate the existing trunk sanitary sewer from the waterfront to Front Street to eliminate design and future development constraints for Centennial Drive and to improve the development potential of the waterfront area.
The City previously hosted a PIC on Sept. 27, 2017 to present the alternative solutions under consideration and garner feedback from the public and stakeholders.
Subsequent to a review of comments received, Orillia Council selected Alternative 2 as the Preferred Solution which proposes three lanes, with a common left-turn lane, from Laclie Street to King Street and four lanes from King Street to Queen Street East.
Bike lanes will not be included within the subject section of Front Street. Servicing and intersection improvements will also be completed.
Following PIC No. 2 and a review of comments received, a report will be presented to council to formally select the preferred design concept developed for the Preferred Solution.
