Local OPP snowmobile busy patrolling the trails

MIDLAND - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police snowmobile unit were actively patrolling area trails over the Feb. 2-4, 2018 period.

Officers logged over 30 hours of patrol on detachment snowmobiles issuing 2 charges for licencing issues under the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act and also 1 collision investigation related charge under the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act.

R.I.D.E. checks were conducted by officers on snowmobiles and patrol officers at numerous locations throughout the detachment patrol area resulting in over 229 snowmobiles being checked.

Police remind motorists that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our trails, roadways and waterways. Educating the public about safe driving practices is a priority.
