Information Orillia celebrated National Volunteer week with their fifth annual volunteer recognition event on April 10, 2019.

This year, the theme was Volunteers Shine Brightly.

More than 160 volunteers from 19 organizations enjoyed a free delicious pasta dinner, prepared by Theo’s Eatery, at the Geneva Event Centre in the downtown core.

Mayor Steve Clarke lauded the crowd for their contribution to our community and read an official proclamation about National Volunteer Week.

He was followed by guest speaker Michael Gordon, Orillia's Citizen of the Year. He shared his own personal volunteer journey.

Everyone received a certificate signed by Simcoe North MP Bruce Stanton to emphasize the importance of their generous donation of time and talent.

Smiles and thank yous were in abundance.

Information Orillia staff and board members thank these supporters who helped to make the evening possible: City of Orillia, Geneva Event Centre, Theo’s Eatery, wellwise by Shoppers Drug Mart, Home Hardware, Impression House, Royal LePage Real Quest Realty and Orillia Honey.
