A gaggle of shutterbugs and nature lovers flocked to the corner of Coldwater Road and Albert Street Tuesday afternoon when a large bird was spotted in a tree high above a home at the corner of the intersection.
One person identified the bird as an eagle that was not yet fully grown.
The bird flew from its roost to a nearby roof and then, 15 minutes later, returned to its spot in the branches. The group of spectators speculated the bird was drawn to the busy corner by the scent of a freshly-killed squirrel that remains on the ground below his perch in the tree.
At 2 p.m., the bird had already been at the spot, waiting patiently, for more than an hour, according to the small group on hand snapping photographs.
