Sylvie Roberge, a master teller of folktales, is the guest teller at Storytelling Orillia’s next Sunday afternoon story circle — a circle on transformation.
Her story, The Prince and the Dragon, originated in Serbia many years ago, and Sylvie says, “It comes with some audience participation, should you wish to let your inner child come to the fore.
“What is the secret of the dragon’s strength? How do we meet the dragons in our world — the outer and inner ones — and transform them?” she asks.
Sylvie’s storytelling style is warm, vibrant and inclusive. She can draw an audience together and bring a story to life in the midst of the circle, as participants share actions and words to move the story along.
Those who attend are welcome to share a short story of their own on any theme. Or, they may want to enjoy a cup of tea, relax and listen.
As the seasons change, we often reflect on transformations, and our lives and experiences transform over the years. This circle is just before Halloween, so tales of that kind of transformation may also appear.
To join the circle and experience the stories, you are invited to Creative Nomad Studios, on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. There is no admission, but small donations are collected to help with costs.
