The Orillia Museum of Art & History (OMAH) is excited to announce the launch of a new exhibition, highlighted by a special reception to be held on Thursday, March 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition will run until April 8, 2025.
Heritage in Hues: Orillia’s Story Through Textiles
Curated by students in Georgian College’s Museum & Gallery Studies program, this exhibition showcases textiles from OMAH’s collection, highlighting the artistic and aesthetic elements that inspire contemporary creativity while honouring Orillia’s evolving identity as the Sunshine City.
Special Reception: Thursday, March 13, from 5 PM to 7 PM
This celebratory evening invites visitors to explore the gallery at their own pace and participate in a hands-on activity that contributes to Orillia’s artistic legacy. Enjoy complimentary refreshments generously provided by Mariposa Market. Guests will have the opportunity to meet with exhibition curators, Kathryn Anglin, Rebecca Daniels Bastmeyer, Alayna Muzzell, and Caleb Roberts-Dodd.
The Power of Community Partnerships
OMAH thrives through meaningful community partnerships that strengthen the connection between art, history, and the people who shape our region. Collaborations with local organizations, businesses, and educational institutions allow OMAH to present dynamic exhibitions, engaging programs, and enriching cultural experiences.
One of OMAH’s most valued partnerships is with Georgian College’s Museum and Gallery Studies program, which offers students hands-on, real-world experience working with artists, historians, and curators. This relationship not only supports emerging professionals but also enhances OMAH’s ability to offer fresh perspectives and innovative exhibitions. In March 2024, students from this program partnered with OMAH to curate an exhibition highlighting regional authors and writing.
OMAH is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11 AM to 4 PM.
