The Central Ontario Specialized Health (COSH) Network has released two informative resources to support children, youths and adults experiencing challenges with mental health and addictions within our region.

Called Feelings Pathways, these guides are designed to increase access to mental health and addiction supports and services. By serving as an entry point to care, the guides play a role in serving the population and taking pressure off hospital emergency departments.

The development of these guides represents an enormous collaborative effort among regional service providers. The guides can be accessed from the 1door.ca website.

A Guide to Mental Health Resources for Children and Youths in Simcoe and Muskoka:

In this guide is a comprehensive and thorough list of resources for anyone displaying a range of mental health symptoms. There are four scenarios covered, such as “I am feeling overwhelmed or unsure” or “I am feeling hopeless, unmotivated or constantly worried.” Each has its own list of indicators and resources that can help. The goal is to help children, youths and their caregivers find the right help at the right time.

A Guide to Mental Health Resources for Adults in Simcoe and Muskoka:

This guide also boasts a list of resources covering various mental health symptoms. As with the guide for younger people, there is a list of indicators and resources for four scenarios dealing with mental health, such as “I am feeling impulsive or agitated” or “I am feeling in a crisis.”

Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a key partner in COSH, which is a network of agencies and care organizations with expert knowledge, unique skills, and experience in caring for people with highly complex needs. COSH’s mission is to deliver a full range of care with its partners, build capacity in the health care system and co-ordinate access to specialized services.
