Ontario Senior Games in Orillia to be discussed at local forum

Oro-Medonte resident Tim Payne is a veteran of more than 40 senior games events in Canada and the United States. He will talk about opportunities to participate in the Ontario Senior Games at upcoming Orillia Seniors Centre forum.

At its meeting on Thursday, May 18, the Orillia Seniors Centre will host a presentation by Tim Payne, an active local senior who will be a participating athlete and enthusiastic spokesperson for the Ontario Senior Games 2024, which are being held in Orillia, next Feb. 6-8.

Tim will be accompanied by Will LaFrance, General Manager of the Games. who will show a PowerPoint presentation to give an overview of the Games and open the discussion up for questions.

Sometime in the months leading up to the Games, the Orillia Volunteer Centre will hold a volunteer fair aimed specifically at encouraging community members to get involved in supporting the Games by filling a wide range of volunteer opportunities.

The morning's activities begin with refreshments at 10 a.m., followed by singing with Marshall Martin, theme discussion with Jim Campbell, exercises with Elaine Reeder, and the guest presentation from 11:30 a.m to 12:15 p.m., followed by a catered lunch ($10).

The Seniors Centre meets at St. Andrew's Church, 99 Peter St. N., and the building has an elevator available at the lower Peter St. entrance. The parking lot is accessed off Peter Street.
