ORILLIA CONCERT BAND

The Orillia Concert Band under the direction of Randy Hoover will usher in Christmas 2024 with its traditional Christmas concerts on Saturday, Dec. 7 this year.

The Afternoon Christmas Concert, beginning at 3:30, is a light and merry celebration for families and especially pleasing to children. There’s nothing quite like a children’s choir at Christmas and the concert band’s guests this year are the wonderful Orillia Community Children’s Choir under the direction of Julia Johnston. There will be traditional carols as well as music from The Grinch and Home Alone. And of course, if you listen closely you will hear the reindeers’ sleigh bells as Santa arrives to pay a visit. Doors will open at 2:30 and the concert will last for about an hour.
Ticket prices for the afternoon concert are:
Family* (two adults, plus up to four youth): $20

At 7:30, the Orillia Concert Band will welcome all to the annual Christmas Prelude concert, an Orillia tradition for so many years. There will be a delightful mixture of choral and band music, including A Christmas Festival with its carols and sleigh bells, Boughs of Holly, The Christmas Song, and We Wish You a Mambo Christmas. There will be opportunities for all to sing along to carols, which is something we all love to do. The Orillia Vocal Ensemble with Blair Bailey at the helm will add choral music and we will be treated to Alexandra Teske’s gorgeous soprano voice. This promises, as always, to be a warm and wonderful welcome into this most special time of year. Doors will open at 6:30. There will be refreshments available in the lobby beforehand and during intermission, provided by the St. Paul’s Centre pub committee.
