The Orillia Public Library is celebrating an incredible summer of reading with the TD Summer Reading Club.
With 717 registrants reading almost 2,200 books, our young patrons didn’t just meet the challenge — they smashed it.
The family department was filled with the sounds of youthful discovery as children explored new worlds through books, diving into adventures, mysteries, and tales of all kinds. The library ran over 80 engaging programs for the Summer Reading Club, drawing almost 3,500 participants who enjoyed a variety of fun and educational activities. From the first chapter to the last, these young readers have shown that the love of a good story is alive and well in Orillia.
One of the highlights of the summer was watching the kids proudly march up to library staff each week, their eyes sparkling with excitement, to report on the books they’d recently devoured — especially with many fantastic prizes up for grabs, including the grand prize: a $600 gift card to the Orillia Recreation Centre. Whether they were sharing the thrills of a pirate at sea, an astronaut in space, a dragon in flight or the giggles from a funny Earth-bound tale, their joy was infectious. Library staff loved hearing about these literary journeys and being part of each child’s reading quest.
