The trial dealing with the murder of a Collingwood woman in June 2022 continues through the courts with the matter before Justice Michelle Fuerst in a Barrie courtroom today (Sept. 19).

Orillia resident John Collins has been charged with the murder of Collingwood real estate agent Kinga 'Kay' Kriston, 55, who was found dead in her home in Georgian Meadows on Friday, June 10, 2022.

Collins faces a first-degree murder charge, and the case has been going through the courts since last June.

The matter was before the Superior Court in Barrie today, and will be back again on Oct. 26. Collins didn't appear in court today and won't be required to appear on Oct. 26 because his counsel has been tasked to represent him for that date. The details of his appearances are under a publication ban.

The court case is still in the pretrial phase.

Collins was 57 years old when he was charged with Kriston's murder.

No charges have been proven in court.
