A newly listed Canadian drone company was named top growth story at a conference of 30 European fund managers held recently in the south of France hosted by Edmonton-based Peterson Capital, a national capital markets advisory firm with offices across Canada and in Europe.
Volatus Aerospace, headquartered in Oro-Medonte, beat nine other growth companies from the Peterson Capital roster of Canadian public company clients to walk away with the Best Presentation award, as voted by 30 fund managers and family office CEOs from Milan, Madrid, Monaco, Paris, Geneva and Zurich.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have received this vote of confidence from such a stellar lineup of European fund managers,” said Volatus CEO Glen Lynch, whose company serves civil, government and defence markets around the world. “It was an honour to be invited to this conference in the first place, but to win this award, especially after being listed on the TSX Venture Exchange only since January of this year, is exceptionally rewarding.”
The Canada Growth Conference featured 10 of Canada’s leading growth companies in mining, green energy, oil and gas and special situations. Company CEOs presented to the 30 European fund managers over the two days of the conference, with the Canada Growth Cup being awarded to Volatus in a secret ballot vote on the close of the conference.
“This is our first conference in Europe since we’ve expanded our operations over there last year at about this time and have built it up to where we now have five full-time professionals,” said Rick Peterson, Peterson Capital founder and chair. “Reception to this initiative was very strong and many of the companies that presented at the conference are now meeting with the 100-plus other members of our Euro network. Given the global markets, there’s never been a better time to introduce top Canadian growth stories to our European network.”
