New COVID-19 cases in schools are being reported by Simcoe County school boards today, however reporting between the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit and the schools boards differ.
Currently, there are 31 total active COVID-19 cases being reported by local school boards at Simcoe County schools as of 4 p.m. on Oct. 8.
At the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, the board is reporting 15 cases and eight classroom closures at St. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic School in Bradford. However, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is reporting 18 cases at the school.
The school remains open.

Also new today at the Catholic board are two cases at St. Bernadette Catholic School in Barrie, with two classroom closures.
At the public school board, two new cases are being reported by the board at Orchard Park Public School in Orillia, and another classroom closure. This adds to four cases and two classroom closures previously reported at the school.
The health unit is reporting seven cases total at the school.
According to the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, there are currently 25 active cases spread across seven schools:
- Two cases at St. Bernadette Catholic School in Barrie, with two classroom closures
- Four cases at St. Ann's Catholic School in Penetanguishene, with two classrooms closed
- 15 cases at St. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic School in Bradford, with seven classrooms closed
- One case at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School in Bradford, with one classroom closed
- One case and two classroom closures at Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Bradford
- One case at St. Peter's Catholic Secondary School in Barrie
- St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School in Tottenham is reporting one case, with two classrooms closed
The health unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at St. Ann’s and St. Marie of the Incarnation on Oct. 1, which are both still active.
At the Simcoe County District School Board, they are currently reporting six active cases spread across one school:
- Orchard Park Public School in Orillia is reporting six cases and three classroom closures
An outbreak was declared by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit at Orchard Park Elementary School in Orillia on Oct. 5, and at W.C. Little Elementary School on Sept. 28, and are both still active.
