Thousands giddy up to ODAS Park for popular Ram Rodeo event

Saturday was 'a perfect day for a rodeo and even though we had a bit of rain, that didn’t stop people from coming out to enjoy the rodeo,' said official

Yeehaw!

On Saturday, the Ram Rodeo Tour made a stop at ODAS Park in Severn Township to wow the crowd with everything rodeo.

Thousands of cowboys and cowgirls flooded ODAS Park to check out the sights and sounds and fast-paced action of what a rodeo is all about.

“This event is huge for us and the community, and attracts thousands of people,” said Chad Cooke, ODAS Park's president.

“Today has been a perfect day for a rodeo and even though we had a bit of rain, that didn’t stop people from coming out to enjoy the rodeo,” Cooke added.

The rodeo itself included barrel racing, bull riding, pole bending, a halftime trick show, and much more.

“I could see myself one day taking part in the rodeo, and maybe even the bull riding,” said Sarah Auld, a rodeo enthusiast who enjoyed Saturday's action.

In addition to the rodeo, the Canadian Cowgirls Rodeo Drill Team performed some amazing horseback tricks and horseback dances for the crowd.

There were also inflatables for the kids, a mechanical bull where you could test your skills to see if you have what it takes to become a professional bull rider, a rock-climbing wall, and a variety of vendors where you could, among other themed items, select your very own authentic cowboy hat.

To end the day, a country dance took place Saturday night at ODAS Park, where hundreds more caped off the day in style.

Officials estimate more than 2,000 people enjoyed Saturday's event.

“We’ve definitely had a few thousand people come through the gates today, and we are expecting way more tomorrow,” said Cooke.

The Ram Rodeo Tour wraps up at ODAS Park Sunday with their final show starting at 1 p.m.
