Lady Kings action heats up despite cool temps (12 photos)

Amid challenging weather and other challenges this year, Kings thank 'incredible dedication, thoughtfulness and passion showed' by volunteer coaches

Though the temperatures were cooler on Monday, the Orillia Lady Kings house league players were on fire.

The U7s were treated to so much fun by their fabulous coaches on Monday and all worked hard to listen and learn about defensive play. The Kutting Edge team showed a true team effort with great defence, spacing and passing in their 11-6 win over Taham Engineering. Winning goals were scored by Sydney Kennedy (3), Brinley Hopkins (2), Monroe MacIntosh (2), and Vera Quinn (2). Tatham Engineering answered with goals by Briar Smith (4) and Claire Boles (2). 

BMO Nesbitt Burns came out ready to play in their nail-biting 8-7 win over The Kitchen Shop. Winning goals were scored by Logan Dowling (3), Maeve Morris (2), Clair Collins (1), Liv Davis (1) and Ryanne Lamontagne (1). The Kitchen shop battled back with a dominant effort by Lucy Gammon who scored five goals and Mia Mahoney with two. 

In U9 play, the teams put on a good show with Whelan North edging out Millwood Logistics in a 4-3 win. Norah Whelan shuffled more than the provincial cabinet this week with two big goals. Single markers were added by Zoey Beaudin and Isla Flamino. Assists were made by Norah Belviso (2), Olivia Hopkins (1) and Palmer Mainer (1). Baylee Barker held her own for Millwood Logistics with a hattrick that was more impressive than any political debate. 

2nd Century Source for Sports came out all equipped to win in their 5-2 game against Speedy Glass. Winning goals were scored by Olivia Maciejewski (2), Maeve Runk (2) and Fiona McKinney (1). Runk also tallied two assists and Kate O'Neil was amazing on defense. Speedy glass goals were scored by Amelia Silk and Isabel Reid, assisted by Anna Hunter. 

The U11 Division played hard. The Tryon Construction team would have made Aaron proud in their 5-1 win over Mid Ontario Disposal. Winning goals were scored by Rebekah Lacroix (2), Lauren Bomberry (1), Alexa Pellarin (1), and Addison Caldwell (1). Caldwell also marked three assists, while other helpers were made by Beya Beaudin with two, Bomberry with two, and Pellarin with one. Mid Ontario trucked along with a goal by Ali Almeida and an assist by Delilah LaFraugh. Nyla LaChapelle played amazing defense and Violet Whelan was solid in net. 

Champlain Ready Mix poured on the goals in their 6-3 win over Brewery Bay. Winning goals were scored by Brooklyn Reed (2), Vivian Ashcroft (2), Brielle Hodgkinson-Armstrong (1), and Yvonne Lee (1). Brewery Bay answered back with goals by Caleigh Basta, Evelyn Branham and Isabelle Ouellette-Darling. Sadie Kuula had a big assist.

In the U13/U15 division, the Strachan and Morris team all showed great hustle in their 6-4 win over Mariposa Landscaping. Winning goals were scored by Chelsea Currie (2), Rayne Noganosh (2), Eiley Hayes (1) and Katie Bunting (1). Olive Bomberry was amazing in net, while Lexi Vankoughnet and Ivy Lowry were great on defense. Mariposa Landcaping dug deep with goals by Morgan Parnell (2), Ellie Lynch (1) and Kaydence Thompson (1). Assists were tallied by Kyah Thompson, Kaelyn Drennan, Lynch and Kaydence Thompson. Dylan Nahorney was strong in net. 

The Stoutts sparked a power outage over Atmosphere Electric in their very tight 7-6 win. Winning goals were scored by Vivian Laurin (2), Elyse Faulkner (2), Sienna Cryer (1), Billie Rouse (1), and Samantha Harper (1). Kylie Homan had two assists, while Cryer and Laurin also marked helpers. Atmosphere Electric goals were scored by Jana Ball (2), Chloe Weiler (2), Anna Fagan (1) and Mara McKinney (1).
