Lady Kings weather the elements, storm into action against foes

Plenty of teams took to field at the West Orillia Sports Complex after patiently waiting for clouds to part

The Orillia Lady Kings house-league program had to cancel games on the 13th due to a thunderstorm that came crashing in to ruin the fun.

Mother Nature tried to interfere again on Monday with another storm, but the Lady Kings patiently waited out the storm to play their full games.

In U7 action the Little Lady Kings lit up the net with many goals. BMO Nesbitt Burns joined forces with Kutting Edge, while The Kitchen Shop pink team was supported by Tatham Engineering.

Goal scorers on Monday included Lucy Gammon with a record-breaking seven goals, Briar Smith with four, Liv Davis with three, Gracie Fess with two, and singles marked by Evelyn McDonald, Quinn Laughlin, Clair Collins, Ryanne Lamontagne, Aspen Hollan, Zoey Robinson and Rylee Murphy.

The U9 teams are working hard. The Speedy Glass red team showed their speed in their 3-2 win over 2nd Century Source for Sports. Anna Hunter scored two goals, while Baileigh Brain scored a single. Brain and Hunter also tallied assists.

Whelan North knows how to find the money shot, and came out on top in their 4-1 win against Millwood Logistics. Whelan North goals were scored by Norah Whelan with two, and Zoey Beaudin and Audrey Gammon with one each. Assists were marked by Claire Brouse, Evie Graham, Isla Flamino and Norah Belviso. Baylee Barker answered back with a goal for Millwood Logistics on an assist from Ophelia Collins.

In U11 games, Tryon Construction showed a solid foundation in their 4-2 win against Brewery Bay. Alexa Pellarin led her team to the win with two sensational goals, while Beya Beaudin and Lauren Bomberry each scored singles. Beya and Isabella Beaudin and Laurie Belcourt also marked assists. Kayla Beard led her team with two goals on assists by Isabelle Ouellette-Darling in the loss.

Champlain Ready Mix took Mid Ontario Disposal out to the curb in their 4-2 win. Abigail Davison was in net for the win, and goal scorers were Brielle Hodgkinson with a hat trick, and Klara Culp with a single. Brooklyn Reed helped out with two assists, while Yvonne Lee had a helper of her own. The Mid Ontario Disposal team got its scoring started this week with the team’s first goal by Ali Almeida. Lyla Trottier also found the back of the net with a goal. Ruby McParland and Almeida also tallied assists in their loss.

The U13/U15 division didn’t show any signs of slowing down with the Stoutts blue team defeating Mariposa Landscaping green in a 7-3 win. The Stoutts didn’t give up any top real estate with goals from Elyse Faulkner (two), Charlotte Cronshaw, Ryleigh McGuire, Vivian Laurin, Sienna Cryer and Kylie Homan. Molly Bergeron had two assists while Samantha Harper also helped with an assist. The Mariposa Landscaping team dug deep to answer with goals from Kyah Thompson (two) and Ellie Lynch. Kaelyn Drennan, Lynch and Thompson also marked assists. Kaydence Thompson was solid in net.

Atmosphere Electric was a good match for Strachan and Morris as their battle ended in a 4-4 tie. The Fagan sisters came out strong with a hat trick by Anna and a single marker by Alexandra. Lucy Goodman was outstanding in net, Jana Ball showed great leadership, and both Peyton Hoyt and Lexi LaChapelle demonstrated great teammate qualities both on and off the field. Strachan and Morris showed up with two strong goals from Olive Bomberry, and singles by Katie Bunting and Taylor Scheffel. Eiley Hayes was outstanding on ground balls, earning her an assist.

Teams will be back again on Monday, May 27 for more lacrosse action.
