Mariposa Gymnastics is thrilled to announce that Marina Thomas, a rising star in the gymnastics community, has earned a spot on Team Ontario for the upcoming Simone Biles Invitational in Houston, Texas, at the end of January.
“I’m so excited and honoured to represent Ontario at this event,” said Thomas.
Thomas, along with seven other level six gymnasts from around Ontario, will represent the province at the Simone Biles Invitational, a premier gymnastics competition that attracts elite gymnasts from all across North America.
Named after United States gymnast Simone Biles, the Invitational showcases the best talent in gymnastics and provides an incredible opportunity for athletes to compete at the highest level.
Over her impressive 17-year career, Thomas has steadily risen through the ranks, consistently impressing those around her with her athleticism, technique, and composure under pressure.
On top of getting the opportunity to compete at this invitational, Thomas currently holds the level 6 vault champion title for Ontario and continues to hold records in the gymnastics community.
At her last competition in London, Ont., she gained a new title, becoming the All Around Champion, coming home with 4 gold medals from the competition in bars, vault, floor, and beam.
In addition to the experience and prestigious event, Thomas’s longtime gymnastics coach, Brittnee Dunn, will also make the trip to Texas.
“We are incredibly proud of Marina,” said Dunn. “She has put in hundreds of thousands of hours of practice and has shown tremendous growth as a gymnast. This opportunity to compete at the Simone Biles Invitational is a well-deserved recognition of her talent and dedication to gymnastics.”
Stay tuned for updates on Marina’s journey and her performance at the Simone Biles Invitational.
