Back in town after securing a silver medal at the London Devilettes tournament, the U15BB Orillia Hawks kicked off a three-game playoff series against the Barrie Sharks. The winner of this series would advance to the second round of the league championships.

Game one took place at the Allandale Rec Centre in Barrie on Feb. 21. Kaydence Thompson struck early in the first period with an assist from Lauren Torrance. Barrie responded with a goal in the third period to even the score. Determined to regain the lead, the Hawks did just that — Ellie Lynch netted the game-winner, assisted by Molly Mee. The Hawks skated off with a 2-1 win.

The teams faced off again on Feb. 22, with the Hawks securing a 3-2 victory. In the first period, Kaydence Thompson and Ellie Lynch set up Isabella Cheslock for the opening goal. Lauren Torrance found the back of the net in the second, assisted by Emilija Ligers. By the end of the period, the Sharks had tied the game. With just over three minutes remaining, Kallie Yakeley delivered the game-winning goal, assisted by Molly Mee.

With this hard-fought series win, the Hawks advanced to the next round of the league championship.

The team would like to extend a big thank you to their silver level sponsors: Montana’s BBQ & Bar, Miller Health, Mariposa Landscaping, RC Storage, Sunshine Windows and Doors, Dapper Hockey and the Mortgage Man.
