ORILLIA CHANNEL CATS SWIM CLUB

The Orillia Channel Cats Swim Club recently hosted their first meet of the season at the Orillia Recreation Centre.
The Muskats Splash Meet brought in 53 Orillia swimmers, and swimmers from Peterborough and Muskoka.
Muskats Splash Meets are offered to encourage newer swimmers to participate in competitions and gain racing experience.
“We had swimmers from our junior novice, senior novice, bronze, silver and gold training groups participate. Some were at their very first meet and others were gaining racing experience trying different or more challenging events,” said head coach Meredith Thompson-Edwards.
Ava Fairgrieve (12) qualified for Age Group Provincials and the more difficult Ontario Swimming Championship standard in the 200-metre butterfly.
“Ava had a great race and stuck to the race plan. She was determined to make the provincial standard for both competitions,” said her coach, Thompson-Edwards.
