Fast forward to Dec. 14, when the North Bay Junior Lakers travelled to Gravenhurst for another matchup against the Orillia Hawks. Determined to redeem themselves, the Lakers faced a Hawks team unwilling to entertain the idea of a loss.
The Hawks came out strong in the first period, with Kallie Yakeley opening the scoring. The Lakers quickly responded, tying the game. However, the Hawks dominated the second period. Defenceman Lauren Torrance then netted the Hawks' fourth goal, extending their lead.
In the third period, Isabella Cheslock struck again, scoring her second goal of the game. Despite the Lakers' best efforts, they were unable to get past Hawks' goalie Olivia Weaver, who held firm in net. The Hawks claimed a decisive 5-1 victory.
Back at Rotary Place in Orillia on Dec. 15, the Hawks faced off against the Orangeville Tigers.
