The Wes Brennan Construction Junior Royals defeated the Mansfield Cubs 7-3 on Thursday, June 27 at the Udell Diamond to leapfrog past them into second place in the North Dufferin Baseball League junior division.

The Royals got solid pitching from Nolan MacNeal, who scattered six hits and eight strikeouts for the win, while Emmit McDonald held on for the save while the Royals’ defence went error-free for the third straight game.

Owen Kaczanowski led the offence with three hits while Jhett Winkel cashed in three RBIs as well. Also getting hits were Whyatt Winkel (two), MacNeal (two), Andrew Browne (two), Nathan Molloy (two) and Colson Long and Kobe Geofroy.

The next game is July 2 at 8 p.m. versus the Innisfil Cardinals at the Gander Ross Diamond.
