Attempt to avoid RIDE check leads to impaired charges: OPP

Officers were conducting a RIDE program in Gravenhurst when 'their attention was drawn to a vehicle that appeared to avoid their location,' say OPP

A woman faces impaired driving charges after police allege that she attempted to avoid a RIDE checkpoint Thursday evening just before 11 p.m.

"Bracebridge OPP officers were conducting a RIDE program on Muskoka Road South in Gravenhurst when their attention was drawn to a vehicle that appeared to avoid their location," says a news release issued by OPP.

A traffic stop a short time later lead to the arrest of 23-year-old Jesse MacLeod of Mactier, who faces charges of:
    •    Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a)
    •    Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b)

MacLeod is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 25.
