Bradford murder victim was 59-year-old man: Police

The victim of the homicide in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is identified as 59-year-old Cameron David Goddard of Bradford.

Mr. Goddard's name is being released following notification of his family.  

On Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022, at approximately 4:30 a.m., an officer on patrol located a male in distress on Holland Street West in the area of Deer Run Crescent. The male was suffering from a fatal injury and was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation has determined that the victim suffered a fatal injury after coming to the aid of a young female involved in an violent altercation with the accused on Holland Street West. The female was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

The accused, 20-year-old Brandon Aaron of Bradford, surrendered himself to police and was subsequently charged with multiple offences including second-degree murder, assault with a weapon, assault cause bodily harm, uttering threats, and failure to comply with a judicial release order.  He is being held in custody following a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing.
