Concerned citizens helped the Orillia OPP corral a suspected drunk driver Saturday night.
According to a news release from the Orillia OPP, a traffic complaint was received at about 7 p.m. Dec. 7 that prompted officers to head to the area of Highway 12 near Horseshoe Valley Road in Oro-Medonte Township.
"Upon arriving, officers located the accused who was attempting to get back into their vehicle and was being spoken to by several concerned citizens," noted the release.
The accused was arrested and brought to the Orillia OPP detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Jose Barcelos, 64, of Severn Township, was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand. This follows on the heels of the Orillia OPP arresting three people for impaired driving on Friday night within a matter of a few hours.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia at a later date. Their driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
"The OPP remind motorists that no amount of alcohol or drug is acceptable to consume and drive," noted the media release.
