A 41-year-old man from Port Sydney was killed in a fiery crash in Bracebridge early Sunday morning.
Bracebridge OPP say a vehicle, travelling eastbound on Stephenson Road 1 East at 1:54 a.m., crashed into a tree and the vehicle became engulfed in flames. No other vehicles were involved.
"Sadly, the sole occupant was pronounced deceased," noted a media release from the OPP that stated paramedics and members of the Bracebridge Fire Department also provided assistance at the scene.
The road was closed between Pinedale Road and Bonnie Lake Road while the OPP Central Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team processed the scene. The road was reopened at approximately 5 p.m.
