Police say a heavy police presence over the noon hour near the waterfront was in relation to a person in crisis, noting the situation ended peacefully.
The Orillia OPP say the initial information provided to police earlier today indicated there was potentially a weapon involved.
"Numerous OPP officers responded to the area, located the involved person and confirmed the safety of the individual," police said in a release.
"The individual was taken into custody without further incident."
There was no threat to public safety, police said, adding more details will be released if appropriate.
