Impaired driving charges laid after vehicle gets stuck in ditch

A Huntsville resident was charged with impaired driving late Christmas Eve after getting their vehicle stuck in an Orillia ditch.

Ontario Provincial Police were called to Highway 11 southbound near Memorial Avenue just after 11:30 p.m.

A witness said the vehicle struck a snowbank before ending up in a ditch on the highway.

Officers believed the person behind the wheel showed signs of intoxication so they were taken back to the Orillia Detachment for further testing.

Cassandra Worster, 19, has been charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired (CC),
  • Operation while Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) (CC),
  • Novice driver - B.A.C above zero (HTA), and
  • Young driver - B.A.C above zero (HTA)

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
