Jeep, Mercedes, drugs, $28,000 in cash seized in local drug bust: OPP

A 40-year-old woman is facing multiple charges after Orillia OPP street crime unit helped neighbouring OPP detachment execute search warrant at a home

A local woman is facing several charges after a drug bust Friday morning.

The Orillia OPP street crime unit helped Southern Georgian Bay execute the search warrant at a Highway 93 home in Waverley where police seized a 2024 Jeep, a 2018 Mercedes C33, more than $28,000 in cash as well as cocaine, crack, codeine and drug-related paraphernalia. A stun gun and multiple cell phones were also discovered during the raid.

Also seized was approximately $25,000 in high-end purses, bags, clothing and jewelry alleged to have been obtained by the proceeds of crime, police noted in a media release. 

Chantal Cruise, 40, of Tay Township has been charged with:

  • Three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000;
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of weapon;
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Trafficking in Schedule 1 substance - cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin)

Cruise was released from custody and has been order to appear in court to answer the charges on May 1.
