Local man arrested after assault, armed robbery at area bank: OPP

An Alliston man has been charged after police say someone was assaulted and robbed at a financial institution in Markdale.

On Jan. 23, shortly after 10:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a robbery involving a firearm at a business on Toronto Street North. The suspect fled before officers arrived.

The victim was using the ATM when they were approached and assaulted by a man with a handgun, who demanded the victim withdraw money, Grey Bruce OPP said in a news release.

The suspect was identified through video surveillance and was arrested Jan. 24. The gun was seized, and it was confirmed to be an imitation firearm.

Gregory Quehe, 36, has been charged with armed robbery, pointing a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order (six counts). He was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody.
